Were Back! & Event Updates
DJ Watts and DJ AZteca have been pursuing other opportunities the past year and have not had much time to keep the website up-to-date. However...WE ARE BACK! During our hiatus the radio station has blown up. We now have over 30,000 listeners and 20,000 listening hours per month. Thanks for all the support you have shown us over the years. Hopefully this will be the year The Hip Hop Lounge turns from a hobby into a commercial success. To begin with, we have a huge slate of events coming in the summer of 2005. Check out the updated EVENTS section for more detail.

The HHL Launches New Site
DJ Watts and DJ AZteca have been working on the new site for the better part of two months. We have decided to release the new site early and constantly update the new site rather than having to update two sites. We have big plans for this year and next. This new site will be the platform. Hope everyone enjoys the new site.

DJ Abstract Joins The HHL!
The Hip Hop Lounge would like to welcome DJ Abstract. DJ Abstract will be hosting a nightly show featuring yesterdays and todays underground hip hop. We realized that alot of our listeners really enjoy the classic hip hop flava we bring during the day, but we wanted to diversify and make sure we also give the younger generation what they want. The underground show will consist of mostly signed artist that dont get the radio play they deserve and will also feature a the artists from The Hip Hop Lounge's UNDERGROUND section. We believe that each of the artists we feature are ready to make that step to the next level and want to give them a place to showcase their skills. Come and check out the nightly radio show starting everynight at 10 PM and running to 1 AM.

New Year Updates
We have updated the broadcast quality from 24Kbps to 32Kbps (MP3Pro). This upgrade will give the listeners a close to CD quality listening experience. The only drawback to this upgrade is that all listeners must have at least a 56Kbps connection to the internet. We determined that 90% of our core listeners are using broadband so this should not impact too many. If you listened to The Hip Hop Lounge because of its broadcast rate, please email DJWatts@hiphoplounge.net.

Minor changes to the site
The site was given a minor facelift. The Hip Hop Lounge upgraded its hosting to banner-free as the first of many steps needed to make the HHL home site more of a multimedia site. The next plan is to finish the content on the existing pages.

The Hip Hop Lounge Joins LIVE 365
In early 2001, The Hip Hop Lounge joined Live 365 as a featured broadcaster. DJWatts could not manage the radio station and all the efforts behind the scenes in the traditional format, so he looked to Live 365 to provide hosting for the Current HHL. The HHL is currently hosted by Live 365. It is the best internet based radio hosting provider on the net.

The Hip Hop Lounge Founded
The Hip Hop Lounge was founded in the winter of 1999 by DJWatts and his two boys Monarch and Monster. It was initially designed to provide a place where you could get info on HHL club promotions in the Washington DC and Tucson, AZ areas. That endevuer did not work out as planned, but gave them many ideas for continuing the HHL. The current and second version of the HHL is a FREE radio station that promotes classic hip hop and "GOOD" New School Flavor.
